Colour & Nature: two-day workshops (x3)
Swansea Print Workshop, UK, summer 2010

A series of workshops delivered by Liz Jackson, New Creative Dialogues Artist in Residence at Swansea Print Workshop.

Field trips to nature spots in Swansea were the spring board for the project – quiet spaces where participants made drawn observations and colour notes about the natural landscape. Inspired by this field work, participants created unique colours and prints, these formed the pages of a hand-printed limited edition reference book. An exhibition and a book launch took place at the end of the project.

Workshop feedback

“So often we’re moving quickly through the landscape so it was a real treat to have time to sit and observe the minutiae of nature’s beauty and discover the depths and variations of colour within.”
Owen Griffiths

“I was amazed at Liz’s technical skills but also at her deep thinking, the ease by which she ran a complex workshop and the enthusiasm and encouragement that she expressed. It was also great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it!”
Carys Roberts

“Dear Liz, Just a brief thank you note for the Colour and Nature Workshop, which I enjoyed very much. Your expert tuition and sincere encouragement was greatly appreciated. I look forward to seeing the finished product.”

The Colour of Summer: one-day workshop
East London Printmakers, UK, 7th June 2009

Inspired by the descriptive, sensory and material qualities of colour, participants created the content for a bookwork published by Atelier Jackson Press. The workshop also explored aspects of limited edition book design and publishing.

Workshop feedback

“As someone who spends a lot of time struggling to get colour to make the effect that I desire, I thought it was great to approach colour in a different way.”
Wuon-Gean Ho

“Just a quick thank you to say what a wonderful day I had printing with you.”
Sumi Perera
